Abstract:This report describes the development of a finite difference model to solve the Boussinesq equations in water of constant depth. The main objective of this work was to develop a mathematical model which can represent non-linear wave effects in harbours. In particular, it is important for the model to allow for an adequate description of the effects of set down beneath wave groups. This disturbance is known to be significant in assessing the movement of large moored vessels in harbours.
