Abstract:Directional wave effects are of importance in coastal engineering although directional wave properties are seldom measured. This report describes HR's testing of an instrument for measuring directional waves, the Sea Data 621. Tests took place first in a wave basin, then in the sea off Aberdeen. Due to instrument malfunctions, data from the field trial was of poor quality and useful results were not obtained, although the instrument does have the capability of measuring the required directional parameters.
