|Abstract:||The implementation of directional wave transformation is incorporated in an existing harbour wave ray tracing model. The purpose of introducing directionality in the computational model is to achieve great realism by modelling short crested seas. The effect of implementing directional wave transformation is illustrated for an ideal harbour entrance, and compared with the uni-directional case. Verification of the computational mode is in the form of a comparison with the results of a physical model of a real harbour. Results of the idealised harbour layout test demonstrate the significance of directional wave transformation compared with the uni-directional simulations. Comparison with the physical model supports these results and confirms the importance of accounting for directional wave transformation in coastal and harbour wave modelling. |
